MIAMI — Monroe County Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating the murder of a woman whose body was found stuffed into a closet Monday at a Florida Keys resort.
Deputies found the body of 43-year-old Nadyne Marie Tillman at the Amoray Dive Resort on Overseas Highway in Key Largo, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Deputies have charged Dylan Lamb, 33, with her murder.
Lamb, from Key Largo, was staying at the resort by himself and Tillman, also from Key Largo, met him there sometime over the weekend, said a law enforcement source familiar with the case.
When Lamb checked out Sunday, cleaning staff found bloodied and soiled sheets in yard waste bags, but threw them away without notifying police, the source said.
One of Tillman’s family members reported her missing, saying she had not been heard from since Saturday morning, said Adam Linhardt, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies found her body wedged into a crawl space in the room’s air-conditioning closet. After Lamb checked out, new guests stayed in the room without anyone noticing the body.
“They stayed the night and checked out Monday, none the wiser about the body,” the source said.
Staff told detectives about Lamb refusing to leave the room, which he checked into Friday, when they asked him to move to another to make room for newer guests, the source said.
Investigators believe Tillman was beaten to death, said Linhardt, who would not comment about specifics of the case.
Deputies took Lamb into custody where he works at a local outdoor outfitters and kayak shop, according to the source.
“I want to thank the men and women of the Sheriff’s Office for working around the clock to make an arrest in this case,” Sheriff Rick Ramsay said in a statement. “While the investigation remains ongoing, there do not appear to be any other individuals involved in this incident.”
