One lot of organic snacks in a pouch has been recalled from Walgreens stores and independent grocers in the South for “elevated levels of lead.”

That’s from Sprout Organic’s recall notice for 3.5-ounce pouches Sweet Potato Apples & Spinach. Sprout said routine testing revealed the problem.

“The effects of lead depend upon the amount and duration of exposure and age/body weight,” the recall notice said. “If a child is exposed to enough lead for a protracted period of time, this can affect learning and development or cause other long-term health problems.”

This covers lot No. 4212, expiration date 10/29/2025. No other large chain besides Walgreens sold the recalled lot, which was sold mostly from September through December 2024.

Return any recalled pouches for a refund or at least throw them in the garbage.
