Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. confessed to snorting cocaine off toilet seats during a chat with his old rehab buddy Theo Von.

“Good to see you, bro,” Von said to Kennedy at the start of Thursday’s “This Past Weekend” podcast.

Kennedy then asked Von if it was OK to tell listeners how they know one another, which the host approved.

“We’ve been in recovery together for years,” said 72-year-old Kennedy, admitting he’s spent 43 years rehabilitating from substance abuse issues.

The pair reminisced about attending 7 a.m. meetings above a bank in Los Angeles with a group of about 15 people. Kennedy also recalled changing locations to continue those meetings during the COVID-19 lockdown.

RFK Jr., whose skepticism over COVID-19 vaccines has been well-documented, said skipping recovery meetings posed a greater risk to his health than the virus itself.

“I said, ‘I don’t care what happens, I’m going to a meeting every day.’ I’m not scared of a germ,” he told Von. “I used to snort cocaine off of toilet seats and I know this disease (addiction) will kill me, right? Like, if I don’t treat it, which means for me going to meetings every day, it’s just bad for my life.”

Von, who tapes his show in Nashville, said he recently saw Kennedy with musician Kid Rock, who primarily lives in Music City. The 45-year-old funnyman said he’d heard stories of the MAGA rapper snorting cocaine while eating oysters.

“Yeah, I’m saving a seat for him still,” Kennedy joked.

In February 2025, Kennedy was sworn-in as the 26th secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Medical experts and members of Kennedy’s own family have questioned his competency and called him a “threat” to Americans’ health.

President Donald Trump in September praised Kennedy for his “different” and unconventional approach to health issues and vaccines.
