LOS ANGELES — Seven Disneyland employees were treated at hospitals on Tuesday after an odor in a backstage area at the park caused them to become dizzy and short of breath.

Anaheim fire officials responded to the theme park at 12:30 p.m. after receiving a report of an unknown smell in the Tomorrowland section of the park near Star Tours, said Anaheim Police Sgt. Matt Sutter.

Sutter initially said four employees were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, but Disneyland officials later said seven had been transported for evaluation. Several other employees were treated by paramedics at the park, according to Disneyland officials.

No park guests were affected, Sutter said.

Disneyland officials said building materials used by a contractor backstage produced a reaction that led to the odor. Employees cleared guests from the immediate area Tuesday afternoon as a precaution.
