Florida Film Festival celebrities: Mia Farrow, Christina Ricci
Published in Entertainment News
ORLANDO, Fla. — Mia Farrow will attend the Florida Film Festival this month as part of a special program that includes a screening of “Rosemary’s Baby.” She joins previously announced special guest Christina Ricci, of “The Addams Family” and “Yellowjackets” fame. Ricci’s program will include a 30th-anniversary screening of “Now and Then.”
In addition to her long screen career, Farrow has been lauded for her social activism, particularly her involvement with UNICEF and her humanitarian efforts in the war in the Darfur region of Sudan.
She is also known for her long personal and professional relationship with Woody Allen. For him, she starred in such 1980s films as “Hannah and Her Sisters,” “The Purple Rose of Cairo” and “Broadway Danny Rose.”
But she likely remains best known for her star turn in 1968’s “Rosemary’s Baby.” In that psychological horror movie, Farrow plays a pregnant newlywed who begins to suspect that her Manhattan neighbors have sinister intentions toward her and her baby. John Cassavetes, Ruth Gordon and Charles Grodin also star in the film.
The screening will be followed by a question-and-answer session with Farrow.
“An Evening With Mia Farrow featuring ‘Rosemary’s Baby,'” sponsored by Teresa Williams, will take place at 7:30 p.m. April 18 at Enzian Theater, which presents the annual Florida Film Festival. The theater is at 1300 S. Orlando Ave. in Maitland, and tickets are $100 at floridafilmfestival.com.
Only a few tickets remain for Ricci’s previously announced appearance, which celebrates the 30th anniversary of “Now and Then.” In that nostalgic film, set during the summer of 1970, four childhood friends cement lifelong bonds dealing with personal challenges. In addition to Ricci, the ensemble cast features Thora Birch, Gaby Hoffmann, Demi Moore, Rosie O’Donnell, Melanie Griffith and others.
“An Evening With Christina Ricci, featuring ‘Now and Then'” will be at 8 p.m. April 13 at Enzian Theater. Tickets are $150 for the film and Ricci’s Q&A session.
A $250 ticket includes the film and post-show Q&A, as well as a meet-and-greet with the actor. A meet-and-greet ticket entitles the festivalgoer to one photo with Ricci and the chance to get one personal item signed by her.
More information on the entire festival, which runs April 11-20, can be found at FloridaFilmFestival.com.
