Keanu Reeves has been invited to play bass for Soft Play at Coachella on Sunday (20.04.25).
The punk duo formerly known as Slaves - comprising Isaac Holman and Laurie Vincent - penned the song 'John Wick' about the Hollywood star's titular character in neo-noir action thriller franchise and now they would love the Dogstar bassist to join them to perform the 2024 song from their LP 'Heavy Jelly' in the Californian desert this weekend.
They penned on Instagram: "Keanu we f****** love you mate, we wrote a song about John Wick, from the perspective of John Wick.
We'd love for you to hear it and it would be a dream come true if you would come and play bass on it with us at Coachella. Much love. Isaac (age 33) and Laurie (age 32) xx"
Dogstar hit the road for the 'Summer Vacation Tour' last year.
The rock band - which also consists of guitarist and vocalist Bret Domrose and drummer Rob Mailhouse - played dates in Europe and North America in support of their comeback album, 2023's 'Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees'.
Meanwhile, Reeves is set to reprise his role as the nunchuck-wielding hitman in 'John Wick 5'.
Lionsgate announced the move at CinemaCon this month, and the franchise is also expanding with an animated prequel film and a standalone feature focused on Donnie Yen's character, Caine.
The projects complement 'Ballerina', starring Ana de Armas, which is set for release on June 6.
Reeves, 60, will make an appearance in 'Ballerina' before returning to lead 'John Wick 5'.
The film reunites him with director Chad Stahelski and producers Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee.
Further details regarding the cast and production timeline remain under wraps.
The franchise began with 2014's 'John Wick', which grossed $86.1 million worldwide and gained a following through home entertainment.
Subsequent entries have surpassed previous box office earnings, with 2023's 'John Wick: Chapter 4' reaching $440million globally.
Adam Fogelson, chair of Lionsgate's Motion Picture Group, said about the upcoming fifth instalment in the franchise: "Keanu, Chad, Basil and Erica would not return unless they had something truly phenomenal and fresh to say with these characters and this world."
Basil and Erica added: "It's so important to get this story right and give John's story the proper next step."
The project follows the events of 'John Wick: Chapter 4', with Caine freed from his obligations to the High Table.
