Maria Shriver found attending Patrick Schwarzenegger's wedding to be a "humbling" experience.
The 69-year-old author has taken to social media to reflect on Patrick and Abby Champion's recent wedding, revealing that she "wept" on the big day.
Alongside a series of photos from the wedding day, Maria - who was married to Arnold Schwarzenegger between 1986 and 2021 - wrote on Instagram: "One minute you're fixing his bow tie, the next minute he's getting married! Oh, how time flies as a parent.
"I wanted to take a moment to congratulate my son, @patrickschwarzenegger and my new daughter-in-law, @abbychampion on their beautful wedding. I'm so proud of them, of their love, their commitment to one another. They are the best of friends, and they are surrounded by great friends, loving supportive family, and god.
"It is humbling experience to watch your baby boy grow into a good man and take this huge step in his life. So yes, I wept. Oh, yes I did, but I was also bursting with joy. I'm grateful to god to be alive and to witness such a beautiful union.
"I wish the newlyweds a life of understanding, love, and ongoing compassion for one another. And magic! Congrats, Patrick and Abby! love you both always and deeply! (sic)"
Patrick and Abby started dating in 2015 and got engaged in 2023.
The actor previously revealed they would have gotten married sooner but their wedding was delayed after he landed a role in TV show The White Lotus, which was filmed in Thailand.
He told chat show host Drew Barrymore: "Finally, a year and a half ago we got engaged. And it was our moment; it was this great thing.
"And a few days later, I booked White Lotus, and I was like, 'Abby, I know we're in this high of engagement, and we're gonna get married this year. But we're going to have to push it. I got White Lotus, and I'm going to film for the next seven months in Thailand.' She was so happy. She was ecstatic because she was a huge fan."
