MINNEAPOLIS — Brian Setzer, one of the Twin Cities’ most famous guitarists, is selling some of his instruments and memorabilia.

That’s what happens when you’re an avid guitar collector dealing with health issues.

Reverb, the largest online marketplace for musical gear, has announced the sale of dozens of items belonging to the Stray Cats frontman.

The New York native, 66, who moved to the Twin Cities about two decades ago, announced in February that he was dealing with an autoimmune diagnosis that causes hand cramping. However, in July, Stray Cats announced another reunion tour of 21 concerts, beginning Oct. 25 in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.

Setzer is selling stage-played guitars as well as pedals, cases and stage-worn clothing.

The items include:

—A 1959 D’Angelico New Yorker guitar.

—A 1964 Firebird guitar in cardinal red.

—A 1961 Gibson ES-175 guitar with Corinthian leather pickups.

—A Hot Rod Flag Back guitar with custom pinstriping painted by Tommy Otis.

—A G Brand Gretsch Rancher acoustic guitar used on Setzer’s Rockabilly Riot tours.

—Two Black Gretsch Rancher acoustic guitars, one of which was played throughout the Rockabilly Riot Summer Tour in 2019, the other features a falcon headstock.

—Red jackets worn on the Brian Setzer Orchestra Christmas Rocks! Tour in 2016 and a bespoke jacket and shirts made by Karen Matthews.

This is not an auction but rather a sale with fixed prices. The items go on sale at 10 a.m. Sept. 24 at reverb.com but can be previewed now.
