Marcello Hernandez and Skyler Gisondo lending voices to Shrek 5

Marcello Hernandez and Skyler Gisondo have joined the cast of Shrek 5.
The Saturday Night Live comedian and Superman actor will voice Shrek and Fiona's sons Fergus and Farkle in the latest instalment of the animated franchise, with the DreamWorks Animation flick's Instagram account revealing the news to mark Thanksgiving on Thursday (27.11.25).
In a video, Marcello and Skyler were shown getting into character - with the former even putting on green body paint to channel his ogre alter ego.
Sharing snaps of himself in his costume, Hernandez wrote: "I might have gone a bit overboard."
Gisondo - who posted a photo of himself wearing a Shrek hat - wrote to Hernandez via text message: "Buddy those look amazing but you know we're just doing the voices right?"
Shrek 5 is set to be released in 2027 and will see Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz all reprising their roles as Shrek, Donkey and Fiona respectively while Zendaya is joining the cast as Shrek and Fiona's daughter Felicia.
Murphy revealed that he jumped at the chance to voice Donkey again and even explained that his character is slated to feature in a standalone movie.
The 64-year-old star told The Hollywood Reporter: "I've always said I would do Shrek forever. Donkey is a great character to play. I love the whole cast. So I was so excited when it was like, 'Hey, they're doing another one', and they want to do a Donkey one, too. I'm totally into it. I come in too hot, every vocal session."
Despite this, Eddie acknowledged that voicing the part of Donkey can be an exhausting experience.
The Beverly Hills Cop actor shared: "You have a headache after a Shrek session.
"The donkey has a lot of singing. You're on 10, and you're doing it over and over again. The great thing, though, is it's appreciated. Everybody loves the movie. Nothing's worse than working really hard on something, and doing makeup and sweat and all this s***, and then you put it out, and they'd be like, 'Two thumbs down.' You go, 'I was in the makeup chair for 50 hours!'"
Eddie had previously discussed how Donkey will be getting his own spin-off film - like Puss in Boots (Antonio Banderas) had previously - that will see him have his "own little story with his dragon wife".
He said: "Donkey's going to be like how Puss in Boots had his own movie.
"Donkey's going to have his own movie, own little story with his dragon wife and his kids that are half-dragon and half-donkeys.
"They've written this funny story. "
He also stressed that Shrek 5 will be packed full of comedy like all of the previous films in the franchise.
The Trading Places star told Extra: "I've recorded some great stuff. You know, we don't get a full script when we do the Shrek movies. We get the dialogue that we're doing for each session. And I know I've been doing some really funny stuff."
