Weezer bassist Scott Shriner's wife has filed for divorce after 20 years of marriage.
Jillian Lauren-Shriner, 52, has filed paperwork to end her marriage to the 60-year-old rocker citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the couple's split, according to PEOPLE.
The outlet reports Lauren-Shriner is seeking joint legal and physical custody of their sons Jovanni Starshine, 13, and Tariku Moon, 17, while she's also asking for spousal support and for Shriner to cover her legal fees.
She has also asked to drop Shriner from her last name.
The divorce news comes just months after Lauren-Shriner revealed she was battling cancer and she then went on to become involved in a dramatic police shooting a month later.
The writer revealed her health problems in a post on Instagram on March 4 and she was recovering from a hysterectomy when she was caught up in a police incident near her home in the Eagle Rock neighbourhood of Los Angeles on April 7.
Lauren-Shriner was struck in the shoulder by an officer after refusing to surrender her weapon while cops were hunting for a hit-and-run suspect close to her home. She was treated in hospital for her injuries before being arrested and released on bail.
Lauren-Shriner was charged with firing a gun with gross negligence and assault with a semiautomatic firearm. She pleaded not guilty to the charges in May but was later approved to take part in a two-year mental health diversion program.
If she completes the program, the case will be dismissed by the court and she will avoid any jail time.
The deal was confirmed in a statement by the LA County District Attorney's office which noted: "If she successfully completes the conditions of the diversion, the case will be dismissed by the court."
LA County Superior Court Judge Susan De Witt ordered Lauren-Shriner to attend weekly therapy sessions, abstain from using drugs and alcohol, submit to random testing and participate in three Alcoholics Anonymous meetings per week.
She has also been ordered to refrain from owning firearms or knives.
She is scheduled to give a report on her progress to the court in the new year on January 9.
