New on DVD: Have another close encounter with TV's 'Resident Alien'
Published in Entertainment News
The final season of a sci-fi series tops the DVD releases for the week of March 10.
"Resident Alien: Season Four": Alan Tudyk returns as everybody’s favorite extraterrestrial, posing as a small-town doctor and desperate to fit in with an exotic human society that he doesn’t fully understand.
"You can't exactly call 'Resident Alien' career-making, given how much Tudyk has worked, going back to onscreen roles in the late 20th century and on stage in New York, but it has made him especially visible over a long period in a marvelous show in a part for which he seems to have been fashioned," writes Los Angeles Times television critic Robert Lloyd. "Though he's given to explosive bursts of speech, as the character has developed, the humor he plays becomes more subtle and quiet, peppered with muttered comments and sotto voce asides he means to be heard."
OUT ON DIGITAL HD MARCH 10
"The Testament of Ann Lee": Amanda Seyfried stars as the British leader of the Shakers religious sect founded in the 18th century. Mona Fastvold directs, from a screenplay co-written with Brady Corbet; the two previously collaborated for the Oscar-winning 2024 film “The Brutalist.”
"The Ugly": A man embarks on a twisted odyssey through his family’s traumatic past, uncovering sordid secrets along the way, when mom's remains are found after four decades in this Korean drama.
