The mother of “Deadliest Catch” fisherman Todd Meadows does not want his death to be featured on the Discovery channel show.

“We don’t want to see any footage from the accident and do not want Discovery to air any of that footage or make money off of our son’s death,” Angela Meadows told TMZ. “We hope they only air good things of Todd on that boat.”

Meadows was crabbing aboard the Aleutian Lady when he went overboard and into the waters of the Bering Sea, just off the coast of Alaska, on Feb. 25. When first responders finally found him some 10 minutes later, they could not resuscitate him and he was pronounced dead a short time later. The rookie fisherman was 25 years old and had only just returned to the ship after a few weeks on medical leave.

His mother told TMZ he was struck in the head about a month ago while filming. Per protocol, he was checked out by doctors, who ultimately determined he had a concussion. Meadows returned home to Washington to recover, and it would be the last time his family saw him.

In wake of his death, his bunkmate, Trey John Green III, remembered Meadows as “an amazing human” and called the loss a “tragedy.” He also confirmed cameras were rolling at the time of Meadows’ death, as they’d been wrapping production for the upcoming season of “Deadliest Catch.”

“Discovery is done filming, but there was a producer and a deck cam guy on the boat for the past two months filming for season 22 of the show,” Green told US Weekly.

“There is a deck cam as well that records 24-7, everything,” he continued, “and it caught everything from the incident as well.”

It is unclear what Discovery plans to do with the footage.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Todd Meadows,” Discovery said in a statement to TMZ. “This is a devastating loss, and our hearts are with his loved ones, his crewmates, and the entire fishing community during this incredibly difficult time.”

Angela said she and her family were assured Meadows did not suffer in his final moments, though the exact circumstances leading up to his death are still unclear.

The Coast Guard has since launched an investigation into the matter.

“We don’t want to put the blame on anyone, but someone has to take responsibility,” she told TMZ. “We will have justice for Todd.”
