Danica McKellar is "embarrassed" by how much she "loved" the taste of her own placenta.
The Wonder Years star, who has 15-year-old son Draco Verta with her ex-husband Mike Verta, has recalled the moment she ate a piece of her placenta after giving birth, and she compared it to "the best filet mignon".
Appearing on The BobbyCast, she told host Bobby Bones: "My doula said, do you want to taste the placenta? I'd just given birth. And I'm like, sure. I mean, you're not even, you're not in your right mind.
"She gave me a piece of it. Bobby, it was like the best filet mignon that I have ever tasted. But more.
"I was embarrassed about how much I loved it. It was bizarre. I thought, what is this, some sort of weird satanic... Am I a cannibal? We are meant to have that."
Danica married Mike in 2009, and they filed for divorce in 2012, months after welcoming Draco into the world.
Danica admitted she didn't remember much of her labour, which lasted 36 hours, while she felt an instant bond with her baby boy.
She said: "There was so much joy in the room and so much relief! It was instant love. It was an amazing, amazing evening."
In a joint statement right after their son was born, Danica and Mike spoke of their joy at becoming parents.
They told PEOPLE magazine: "We are humbled, overjoyed, and so grateful for this miraculous gift. It's like we've only now just learned the true meaning of love."
Danica rose to fame as a child star in The Wonder Years, before appearing in The West Wing and various animated projects, while she has also appeared in several Hallmark and Great American Family TV films.
Her son has appeared alongside her in some Hallmark movies, and he was curious if she'd allow him to follow in her footsteps with a career in acting.
In a joint interview for Entertainment Tonight back in 2022, she said: "Draco, I will support you whatever you wanna do. I would put you in acting classes and I would help guide you through it.
"I'm not gonna ever push you in that direction [though], because it's a tough life."
Danica was in her pre-teens when she was cast in The Wonder Years, and she tried to balance her career with schoolwork.
She recalled: "What I remember the most is juggling being an actress and doing my schoolwork. It was a lot of going back and forth to the school trailer."
