'AGT' winner Grace VanderWaal cancels tour over mental health issues

“America’s Got Talent” winner Grace VanderWaal canceled her upcoming tour with singer Natalie Jane over mental health issues.
“Hi everyone, it’s been a bit,” she wrote Tuesday on Instagram. “I’m happy to be back and talk to y’all.”
The 22-year-old singer won season 11 of the televised talent show competition when she was 12 years old.
“I unfortunately will not be going on the Natalie Jane tour due to mental health,” her social media post continued. “I’ve been struggling for a while and am choosing myself in this moment.”
Word of her canceled tour comes five months after VanderWaal lost her 53-year-old mother to cancer. VanderWaal’s announcement didn’t mention the singer’s mom. She wrote “I don’t know how to move forward without you” in October.
But VanderWaal encouraged Jane to move on and “kill it” on her “The World I Didn’t Want Tour,” which passes through Williamsburg on March 19.
“Health comes first always!!!” Jane replied on Instagram.
Singer Jewel and TV personality Carson Daly also expressed support for Wanderaal on that platform.
VanderWaal’s message ended with an apology to her fans.
“I love you so much and will be singing very soon. Thank you guys for understanding,” she wrote. “I apologize, sending love to all of you.”
VanderWaal’s latest album “Childstar” was released in April 2025. She talked to NPR about that project and her everyday challenges as she entered adulthood.
“As people, like, you primally want to tell people around you, I need help. I need to survive,” she said. “And so it’s very unnatural to swallow that down and smile and say, ‘I’m really happy to be here.'”
