Jamie Lee Curtis's Murder, She Wrote reboot will be released next year.

The 67-year-old actress will portray iconic crime writer and amateur sleuth Jessica Fletcher - who was played by Dame Angela Lansbury in the legendary TV series - in the film, which will drop on December 22nd, 2027.

In the show, Fletcher solved crimes in the fictional town of Cabot Cove, Maine.

But plot details for the upcoming Murder, She Wrote motion picture are yet to be revealed.

It is known that Jason Moore will direct the reboot, and the screenplay has been penned by Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo.

Amy Pascal, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will produce the movie.

Curtis recently confirmed she was stepping into Lansbury's shoes, and she is "very excited" about the role.

She told Entertainment Tonight: "Oh, it's ... happening. We're a minute away, but yeah, [I'm] very excited. Very excited.

"But I'm tamping down my enthusiasm until we start shooting. I have a couple of other things to hustle, but then I'll get to enjoy that work."

Murder, She Wrote ran for 12 seasons from 1984 to 1996.

Bosses at NBC had previously planned to revive the show with Oscar-winning actress Octavia Spencer, but reports from early 2014 suggested the project had been canned.

In September 2023, it was revealed a Murder, She Wrote movie was being adapted for the big screen before the Hollywood strikes.

Schuker Blum told Collider at the time: "We'll tell you one thing that hasn't been reported yet, which is we have written a theatrical feature film version of 'Murder, She Wrote' for Universal, and we're really excited."

Angelo added: "It's with Pascal Pictures in Pascal and Universal, and we're very excited to bring [Jessica Fletcher to the big screen]."

Lansbury played Fletcher in 264 episodes of the iconic murder mystery show, and she reprised the role in four feature length TV movies from 1997 to 2003.

The actress passed away in her sleep in 2022, aged 96.

Her family said in a statement at the time: "The children of Dame Angela Lansbury are sad to announce that their mother died peacefully in her sleep at home in Los Angeles at 1:30 AM today, Tuesday, October 11, 2022, just five days shy of her 97th birthday."
