We’ve decided to do something different. We’re going to give you an in-depth instruction on attacks from Isolated Queen Pawn positions (IQP). You will become very knowledgeable about this attack by doing what serious players do—Play over slightly different positions that have a similar theme. You will then become a much better attacking player because you will more quickly recognize them when they come up in your games.
From Kotov – Tolush, Tallinn, 1947 1.Rxg7+ Bxg7 1...Kxg7 2.Qh7+ 2.Qxf7+ Kh8 3.Rg1 Re7 4.Ng6+ Qxg6 4...Kh7 5.Nxe7+ 5.Qxg6 Kg8 6.Qh7+ Kf8 7.Rxg7 Rxg7 8.Qh8+ Rg8 9.Qf6+ Ke8 10.Bc4 and Black Resigned as all he could do at this point is give up material as he inevitably gets mated.
