The Firestorm

Holiday Mathis on

The moon and sun are ablaze. What happens when fire meets fire? The heat increases exponentially, not linearly, with an entrainment that can spark a firestorm -- a self-sustaining vortex of wind, heat and momentum. It's a day to remember not all union is calm, but sometimes, it's just what's needed to make something unstoppable.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). A tempting conflict flashes its teeth -- sharp, shiny and beneath you. It might feel fun to engage, but it drains more than it gives. Your higher mind knows better. Power moves quietly. Cool heads run the room.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). Today, you're the muse, the channel, the artist and architect. It sounds glamorous, but it entails a lot of very unglamorous work, too. The more you respond to this calling, the more inspired you become.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). In terms of attraction and personal magnetism, less is more. Instead of spilling everything you think or feel, follow your inclination to hold back just enough, creating mystery, tension and allure.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). Talk to people who have the experience you desire. The map is out there. This thing you want, it's not just a luxury but a true life-enhancer. You haven't cracked the code yet, but you're getting close.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). You radiate without trying -- not something you do, it's something you are. Kindness, beauty, imagination -- it's all in you, as scent is in the flower. Someone will feel better just by being near you.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). You don't have to escape the world to reconnect with yourself. Just avoid distractions. A solid two hours of focus will open something up, and energy will return. Also, choosing the right task makes all the difference.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Approval can be intoxicating -- and fleeting. You're always checking the cost, and that's smart. If applause requires you to shrink, twist, or pretend, it's not worth it. Today, the crowd is loud, and yet you'll still hear and heed your own voice.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). You walk in like you belong, because you do. Someone who used to intimidate you now sees you as an equal. You'll get the evidence. There are few things more satisfying than this, so take in the moment.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). You get a star for holding the line on your dignity, even when you feel fragile and stretched and tired. So what if you yell a little here or trip up a little there? You're still choosing contribution, engagement and vitality. You're still choosing yourself.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). Social choreography flows smoothly for you today. You'll quickly pick up on the subtle moves of interaction -- knowing when to speak, when to hold back, how to shift tone, how to lead or follow -- and the unspoken dynamics.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). You've given plenty. You know some will take and take and never turn it around -- not because they don't want to but because they are limited in awareness, emotional capacity and intention. So, choose your company well.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Write out your stressors so they're out of your head and visible. Step away for a bit, then return to sort them by what you can control and what you can't. Make a plan for the former. Release the rest. Instant relief.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (Aug. 4). A radiant reinvention is underway as a joy you thought was gone returns stronger than ever. You'll try on a new role, and it won't feel like pretending, rather like coming home. More highlights: You'll be praised in private and celebrated in public. You'll find a system that makes life easier and more beautiful. You'll experience a cinematic relationship. Taurus and Aries adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 2, 8, 16, 23 and 30.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: "Yes we can" became the campaign slogan and lasting symbol of perseverance and collective action for former President Barack Obama, who exemplifies Leo's solar magnetism. Obama was born to lead with warmth, eloquence and showmanship. A classic Leo arc: Rise from humble roots to global influence, then pivot to legacy-building. He now steers Higher Ground Productions, shaping culture through award-winning films. With the sun as his ruler, Obama continues to shine at the intersection of storytelling, leadership and enduring vision.
