Harvest Moon Whispers

Holiday Mathis on

The full moon in Pisces has been celebrated since the ancients for a glow that lights the fields and allows the harvest to continue into to the late hours. This Harvest Moon features an eclipse, recalling the shadows and light that color the change of seasons, both on the calendar and in our hearts. "I want to see you dance again / Because I'm still in love with you / On this harvest moon" -- Neil Young

ARIES (March 21-April 19). No matter what you think of yourself, you're wrong. You're better than your thoughts can assess -- and weirder, funnier, more original. So stop editing yourself for the imaginary panel of judges in your head and take the stage. It's yours.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). You'll change the mood around you just by noticing what's good. Your ability to do this, in many ways, is because you've witnessed things that were terrible. We rely on contrast to show us where the beauty is.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Even in a service position, you don't have to take orders. What you're in is a co-creation. When feedback arrives, stay in your role as the artisan. Receive it with poise, translate it through your vision and present back something elevated.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). Your thoughts move in neat, logical order, until a wild card arrives, bouncing the energy in unexpected directions. It may feel messy in the moment, but once the dust settles, you'll see it was actually the sparkling gold dust of special creativity.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). What keeps the spirits high and the energy flowing? You. Your smile, your insight, the clear way you communicate... Seek out others with similar vibes and together you'll turn even routine moments into a lively scene.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). Your brilliance shouldn't be news to you. You'll get compliments that simply confirm the obvious. It's OK to accept the praise like someone who already knows the value of what they've created.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Honesty can be awkward, but integrity is more important. Who needs polish when you've got patina? You wear this lived-in, storied patina everywhere you go today, and it earns you a reputation for what very few ever achieve -- being cool.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). You have a gift for keeping spirits high and energy flowing. You can't always choose your company, but wherever possible, seek out others with the same gift, and together you'll flip the routine into a lively scene.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Contentment isn't getting what you want. Contentment is feeling happy before you get what you want, because being in the flow of it just feels right, exciting and purposeful. The work itself is rewarding, and you're all about it.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). The good vibes today center around themes of self-acceptance and genuine enjoyment of your own company. When you can be alone without discomfort, solitude feels like a gift rather than a punishment.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Not getting support when you need it can hurt, but it also forces you to figure things out on your own. That process builds skill. Later, that "self-made" status carries power that only comes from doing the hard work yourself.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Gossip clashes with your values. Even if the talk isn't aimed at you, hearing unkindness toward others can still feel hurtful or sour the atmosphere. Seek environments and people who uplift others and speak with kindness.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (Sept. 7). Welcome to your Year of Earned Power. You've trained yourself into a force to be reckoned with, and you did it without a sponsor, a patron or an inherited name. You'll live the results and reap the rewards. More highlights: Athleticism and physical development shine. In relationships, you'll strike the balance between freedom and intimacy. Investments pay off better than anticipated. Gemini and Cancer adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 1, 13, 2, 28 and 16.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: Celebrated for her award-winning film and television work since childhood, Virgo actress Evan Rachel Wood continues to make an indelible impact both on screen and through her activism. Wood recently settled a long-running lawsuit, continuing a legacy of significant impact in advocacy of issues such as domestic violence, sexual assault and LGBTQ+ rights. Wood helped write the Phoenix Act, a domestic violence bill that was signed into law, extending the statute of limitations on domestic violence crimes.
