Heroic Trine

Holiday Mathis on

In superhero stories, the courage of the mighty protagonist is usually anchored in something back home -- the safety of a mother, the thriving of a farm, a sister's well-being, a town at peace. There is hardly a luck more fortifying than the good fortune alighting on the homestead. This water-sign trine of the sun and Jupiter is an omen of domestic bounty and emotional wealth.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). You're in the "wrap-up" phase of one project, doing what must be done before you can start the next one. Don't panic about endings. Mostly, it's about paperwork. Do the admin, close the loops and fantasize a bit about what's coming.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). You are your own myth-maker. Since you have the pen that writes the story, why not give it some good lighting, glamour, rules that work for you, and characters that adore you. Think of today as your velvet curtain rising.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). You are longing for something higher, like beauty, meaning, peace or divine connection. You'll attract others on a similar quest. When a group works as one, their shared awareness will have profound results.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). It feels like you are being judged, and perhaps this is so, but the opinion that matters is your own. Keep your warmth. Keep your grace. The less defensive you are, the easier it is to win people over.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Today's tasks won't come with performance metrics to guide you. Instead, you'll be challenged to come up with your own way of knowing you're doing the work. You'll decide what matters, what to measure and how to self-assess.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). If you go to the theme park in the hours of peak popularity, you wait in long lines. Common desires come with crowds. Today's uncommon desire will give you an advantage: less noise, more freedom and a head start.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Self-discipline is a product of environment. Remove distractions, set up visual reminders, keep tools and materials within reach, and surround yourself with people who value follow-through. How can you make the desired action the default?

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). The question to ask is "how?" It opens up the learning process. Write down the instructions and go step by step. The question to avoid, at least for today, is "why?" -- because it will only confuse matters.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Your mental patterns are part of a personal inventory. Just as you periodically clean your space, you will also refresh your inner world, clearing ways of thinking that no longer fit. Unhelpful behaviors and actions follow suit.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). The in-between stages tend to be brief, and that's what makes them so exciting. Enjoy the state of flux while it's happening, because resolution is inevitable. Leaps will land; voids get filled. This moment is suspended and alive.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). You don't owe anyone your attention. If the connection isn't feeling right to you, let it go. You can love people and still keep them out of your energy field. Release draining relationships to make room for new joy.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Progress can't be made in every direction. Pursue too many goals at the same time and you'll learn the cost of divided focus. When everything matters equally, you move around but never forward. Instead, name your priority and stick with it all day.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (Nov. 16). Welcome to your Year of Sweet Wins, not the sort that come from grinding or proving yourself or being clever in the moment. These wins come from connection. You give love, compassion, charm and heart, and people want you on their team. More highlights: Friends become family. Investments grow exponentially. Playful romance and creativity give you a perpetual glow. Gemini and Libra adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 20, 44, 31, 2 and 18.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: Like a Scorpio, Pete Davidson brings the raw honesty, emotional depth and a fearless approach to both comedy and life. Whether it's an "SNL" sketch or a red carpet look, the fiercely original Scorpio star embodies the X factor Scorpios keep in their back pocket. Look for him with Eddie Murphy in the buddy comedy "The Pick Up" about mismatched armored car drivers ambushed by ruthless criminals. Davidson has five luminaries in Scorpio, the sign of transformation.
