Once again, during my annual office cleaning, I found a few products I didn't get to but are worth noting. Since I've had them for some time, the significant part is that the prices have decreased on both.

Soundcore calls the Soundcore Motion X500 surround sound Bluetooth 5.3 speaker "The World's Most Portable Spatial Audio Speaker." After unpacking it and before it was turned on, its portability was obvious with built-in carrying textured handle.

The online reviews also caught my attention. One said, "I'm telling you this is the best-sounding compact speaker I have ever heard." Another said, "I never realized how much I enjoy having my music with me when I'm in the backyard watering, picnicking, fishing…it has become one of my main travel accessories." So, I felt I'd like the Motion X500, which I did.

It's built with 40 watts of audio output from three drivers, one on top and the others front-facing behind a metal grill. The upward-firing driver has an ambient light and provides an extra feature while carrying the speaker; the upward sound adds to the listening experience. With an IPX7 waterproof rating, you can take it to the beach or pool, or carry it in the rain.

Turning the speaker on with almost full volume, you hear the power and clear sound. It's definitely a speaker built for controlling the music in a party atmosphere or at lower volumes. Whatever your choice, the sound is impressive.

The top-side backlit and rubberized controls are easy to use for pairing, music selections, volume, power, and controlling the option to add extra bass. One button controls the listening modes with choices of spatial signature, spatial dynamic and my personal choice of BassBoost EQ. The sound can also be customized, including customizable EQ, with the Soundcore app. Another Soundcore Motion X500 can be purchased and paired for true stereo.

If not connected to AC power, you'll get at least 12 hours of playtime. A full charge takes 6 hours. Soundcore states that the 12-hour battery life is based on measurements taken at 50% volume and with BassUp turned off. Actual battery life depends on factors such as the type of content being played, custom EQ settings and volume level. There's also a built-in microphone for cellular calls and a 3.5 mm aux-in port.

The Motion X500 lists for $169.99 but is currently $99.99 on Amazon. It's available in three finishes: black deluxe, pink punc, and glitzy blue. A USB-C to USB-C cable is included.
