ORLANDO, Fla. — Central Florida Congressman Cory Mills is under investigation for an alleged assault, a spokesman for the District of Columbia’s Metropolitan Police Department said Friday.
Officers were called to an apartment building about two miles from the U.S. Capitol at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, according to the police department.
Mills, who has not been charged with a crime, denied wrongdoing in a statement released by his office Friday.
“This week, law enforcement was asked to resolve a private matter at Congressman Mills’ residence,” the statement read. “Congressman Mills vehemently denies any wrongdoing whatsoever, and is confident any investigation will clear this matter quickly.”
Police said there is “an active criminal investigation and there is no further information on the case to provide at this time.”
First elected in 2022, Mills is a close ally of President Donald Trump. He has been listed as a potential GOP candidate for U.S. Senate in 2026.
His district includes Seminole County and the southern portion of Volusia County.
