Trump to speak at Miami event near presidential library site next month

MIAMI — President Donald Trump will speak at an event at the Kaseya Center next month, event organizers announced Wednesday, placing the president directly across the street from his planned high-rise presidential library.

It’s the first time the conference, called the America Business Forum, is taking place in the United States. The event was launched in 2016 and has previously been held in Uruguay, according to organizers.

Miami Mayor Francis Suarez spoke at the event last year and has been recruiting a sprawling line-up of guests to speak in Miami on Nov. 5 and 6, including Lionel Messi, Will Smith and billionaire Ken Griffin.

“This is a watershed moment for Miami,” Suarez told the Miami Herald. “This is a really great prelude to 2026, where we have the World Cup and the G20.”

The stadium is directly across the street from the property Trump plans to use for a high-rise presidential library after a state board voted to give the Miami Dade College land to Trump’s presidential library foundation for free with few strings attached.

Trump’s team had been scouting potential locations for months, but it’s unclear if Trump himself has visited the site yet. Developers have called it a dream location for commercial development because of its prime downtown location and special zoning provisions.

Suarez said the planned presidential library across the street from the stadium did not come up in discussions with Trump’s team about the conference. The White House did not respond to a request for comment.

There’s a different political message in having Trump speak in Miami on Nov. 5, according to Suarez. He pointed to the speech as the political opposite of the progressive momentum in New York’s mayoral election, which will take place the prior day. Democratic socialist candidate Zohran Mamdani has drawn national attention in the race. (Miami voters will also be at the polls that day to select a new mayor and city commissioners.)

Most of the speakers are other CEOs and billionaires, including the CEO of Formula 1 Stefano Domenicali, CEO of JPMorgan Chase Jamie Dimon and the founder of WeWork Adam Neumann.
