Fantasy football Week 11: Start, sit and sleepers
Published in Football
Here’s a look back at Week 10’s action and fantasy advice for the week ahead:
WEEK 10 RECAP
Broncos 10, Raiders 7: Tre Tucker is Las Vegas’ WR1 with Jakobi Meyers in Jacksonville, even though it didn’t look like it against Denver. Through 10 weeks, Tucker is the overall WR27 in standard formats (WR31 in PPR). Tyler Lockett doubled Tucker’s three targets against the Broncos, but even Brock Bowers only received three targets in a terribly boring Thursday night matchup. Both Tucker and Lockett are viable options this week against the Cowboys who are allowing the most fantasy points to wide receivers this season.
Colts 31, Falcons 25 (OT): Jonathan Taylor continued his incredible season overseas with 286 total yards, including 244 rushing yards, the second-most in his career, and three more touchdowns in the win at Berlin. It was Taylor’s fifth game with three total TDs this season, which ties him with Marshall Faulk (2000) and Chuck Foreman (1975) for second all time. LaDainian Tomlinson holds the record with six games in 2006 when Tomlinson scored an NFL-record 31 TDs.
Bears 24, Giants 20: Caleb Williams ran for 63 yards on eight carries, including the game-winning TD in the come-from-behind win. Williams has at least 53 rushing yards or a rushing TD in four games this season, which is a big reason why he’s the overall QB9 through 10 weeks.
Dolphins 30, Bills 13: Keon Coleman had three receptions for 46 yards and a TD on eight targets in the blowout loss at Miami. Coleman has three-or-fewer receptions in seven of his last eight games. It was his most targets and yards since Week 1. The second-year receiver is Buffalo’s No. 1 wideout by snaps, but he remains a boom-or-bust candidate until further notice.
Ravens 27, Vikings 19: T.J. Hockenson only had two receptions for eight yards on two targets in the loss to Baltimore. Hockenson is the overall TE25 in standard formats (TE23 in PPR) with only eight targets in the last three games. The once top-tier tight end has become a TD-dependent option in fantasy.
Jets 27, Browns 20: Justin Fields only attempted 11 passes, completing six of them for New York. No pass catcher for the Jets had more than one reception. Garrett Wilson exited the game due to a knee injury that will sideline him 3-4 weeks so the pass game could be literally non-existent unless Adonai Mitchell steps up right away. Mitchell was traded to New York in the Sauce Gardner blockbuster with the Colts. He was underutilized during his time in Indy, but the one thing he proved he could do was stretch the field. The one thing Fields has proven he could during his time in the NFL, besides producing explosive runs, is throw the deep ball. Fields’ deep pass (20-plus air yards) completion rate of 64.1% is actually above his overall completion rate of 63.5% this season, and well above a league average typically in the range of 40% to 45%.
Patriots 28, Buccaneers 23: Before Tampa Bay’s bye, Tez Johnson was the overall WR17 in standard formats (WR25 in PPR) since Week 5 with at least five receptions or 59 receiving yards or a TD in four straight games. Johnson produced four receptions for 42 yards and two TDs against New England on Sunday. The talented rookie should be able to keep this up until at least mid-December, the earliest Mike Evans could return. Chris Godwin might be diminished even after he comes back.
Saints 17, Panthers 7: Juwan Johnson finished with 92 yards and a TD on four receptions in the win at Carolina. Johnson is the overall TE9 in standard formats (TE7 in PPR) through 10 weeks, and has at least five receptions or a TD in four straight games. He joins Chris Olave as a primary focal point in New Orleans’ pass attack with Rashid Shaheed now in Seattle.
Texans 36, Jaguars 29: Dalton Schultz had 53 yards and a TD on seven receptions (11 targets) in the win over Jacksonville. Schultz is the overall TE8 in standard formats (TE3 in PPR) since Week 7 with at least six receptions, eight targets, 77 yards or a TD in three of the last four games.
Seahawks 44, Cardinals 22: Jacoby Brissett completed 22 of 44 passes for 258 yards and two scores at Seattle. Brissett has produced at least 258 yards and two TDs in all four of his starts this season, while only throwing one interception, finishing as the weekly QB7, QB12, QB10 and QB10.
Rams 42, 49ers 26: Matthew Stafford completed 24 of 36 passes for 280 yards and four TDs in Sunday’s rout of the Niners. Stafford now has 402 TD passes in his illustrious career, and at least four TD passes in three straight games. He hasn’t thrown an interception since Week 3.
Lions 44, Commanders 22: Jameson Williams had his best game of the season with six receptions for 119 yards and a TD in the blowout at Washington. Williams has at least 66 yards and a TD in three of his last four games.
Chargers 25, Steelers 10: Quentin Johnston’s 10 targets were four more than any other Bolts pass catcher just two weeks after he didn’t receive a single target against the Vikings. Johnston has at least four receptions for 40 yards or a TD in every game this season except the outlier against Minnesota in Week 8.
Eagles 10, Packers 7: DeVonta Smith scored Philadelphia’s only TD and finished with four receptions for 69 yards on seven targets. Smith is the overall WR9 in standard formats (WR7 in PPR) since Week 5 with at least six receptions for 84 yards or a TD in four of the last five games. He has 19 receptions for 336 yards and two TDs on 27 targets in his last three games. A.J. Brown, eat your heart out!
Feel free to hit me up @UTEddieBrown on X, formerly known as Twitter, with any specific lineup questions I don’t cover in my posts.
Here are my best bets for Week 11:
WASHINGTON VS. MIAMI AT MADRID
Obvious starters: De’Von Achane (MIA), Jaylen Waddle (MIA).
Who to start: Deebo Samuel (WAS) maintains WR3/flex upside as the overall WR23 in standard formats (WR21 in PPR) through 10 weeks with at least five receptions or a TD in six of his nine games this season. Zach Ertz (WAS) faces a defense allowing the third-most fantasy points to tight ends, including four TDs in the last two games. Marcus Mariota (WAS) deserves streaming consideration against a defense allowing the eighth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks. Tua Tagovailoa (MIA) faces a defense allowing the fifth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks, including at least three TD passes in four straight games.
Who to sit: Jacory Croskey-Merritt (WAS) has gotten plenty of carries — double digits in five of the last six games — but the TD-equity goes elsewhere and he isn’t really involved in the pass game. Jaylin Lane (WAS) remains a boom-or-bust candidate with three-or-fewer receptions in every game this season.
Sleeper(s): Chris Rodriguez Jr. (WAS) was the lead back before he hurt his shoulder against the Lions last week, and has scored a TD in three of the last four games. Malik Washington (MIA) has flex appeal against a defense that has allowed seven TDs to wide receivers in the last four games.
CAROLINA AT ATLANTA
Obvious starters: Rico Dowdle (CAR), Bijan Robinson (ATL)
Who to start: Tetairoa McMillan (CAR) maintains WR3/flex upside as the overall WR24 in standard formats (WR22 in PPR) through 10 weeks, including at least eight targets in seven of 10 games. Chuba Hubbard (CAR) has flex appeal in deeper standard leagues against a defense that has allowed running backs to rush for 602 yards and six TDs in the last four games. Drake London (ATL) remains an obvious starter if he’s active (illness/back). Kyle Pitts (ATL) deserves streaming consideration against a defense allowing the seventh-most fantasy points to tight ends. Tyler Allgeier (ATL) maintains flex appeal in deeper leagues as the overall RB32 in standard formats (RB37 in PPR) since Week 2.
Who to sit: Bryce Young (CAR) faces a defense allowing the seventh-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks. Xavier Legette (CAR) remains a boom-or-bust candidate with three-or-fewer targets in five of the last six games. I’m fading an improving Panthers D/ST on the road in a divisional matchup. Darnell Mooney (ATL) remains a boom-or-bust candidate with exactly one reception in three straight games. Michael Penix Jr. (ATL) is the overall QB20 since the Falcons returned from their bye in Week 5.
Sleeper: The Falcons D/ST is a solid streaming option at home against an offense allowing the seventh-most fantasy points to opposing defenses, including 10 sacks and six turnovers in the last three games.
TAMPA BAY AT BUFFALO
Obvious starters: Emeka Egbuka (TB), Josh Allen (BUF), James Cook (BUF).
Who to start: Rachaad White (TB) has RB2/flex upside against a defense allowing the sixth-most fantasy points to running backs. Tez Johnson (TB) is the overall WR17 in standard formats (WR20 in PPR) since Week 6 with at least five receptions or a TD in four straight games. Khalil Shakir (BUF) has at least six receptions or a TD in six of the last seven games. The Bills D/ST deserves streaming consideration at home — it's tied with the Broncos as the sixth-highest scoring defense in fantasy since Week 8.
Who to sit: Baker Mayfield (TB) faces a defense that has only allowed four TD passes since Week 4. Cade Otton (TB) faces a defense allowing the fewest fantasy points to tight ends. I’m fading the Buccaneers D/ST on the road against Allen. Keon Coleman (BUF) remains TD-dependent with three-or-fewer receptions in seven of the last eight games.
Sleeper(s): Sean Tucker (TB) has flex appeal in deeper leagues against a defense that has allowed 12 rushing TDs to running backs in nine games this season. Both Dawson Knox (BUF) and Jackson Hawes (BUF) deserve streaming consideration with Dalton Kincaid out (hamstring) — Knox had a TD in the Week 6 matchup with the Falcons that Kincaid missed.
HOUSTON AT TENNESSEE
Obvious starters: Nico Collins (HOU), Texans D/ST.
Who to start: Woody Marks (HOU) faces a defense allowing the third-most fantasy points to running backs. Dalton Schultz (HOU) is the overall TE8 in standard formats (TE3 in PPR) since Week 7 with at least six receptions, eight targets, 77 yards or a TD in three of the last four games. Jayden Higgins (HOU) has flex appeal as the overall WR34 in standard formats (WR32 in PPR) since Week 8 with at least four receptions and a TD in two of the last three games. Davis Mills (HOU) deserves streaming consideration if you’re desperate this week against a defense that has allowed at least 234 passing yards and two TDs to quarterbacks in three straight games. Both Tony Pollard (TEN) and Tyjae Spears (TEN) have flex appeal in deeper leagues at home despite a difficult matchup.
Who to sit: Christian Kirk (HOU) has three-or-fewer receptions in three of the five games he’s played this season. Jaylin Noel (HOU) only has flex appeal in the deepest PPR formats until further notice. I’m fading Calvin Ridley (TEN), if he’s active (hamstring), Elic Ayomanor (TEN) and Chimere Dike (TEN) against a defense allowing the sixth-fewest fantasy points to wide receivers. Chig Okonkwo (TEN) faces a defense allowing the fourth-fewest fantasy points to tight ends. Gunnar Helm (TEN) remains TD-dependent with three-or-fewer targets in seven of nine games this season.
Sleeper: Nick Chubb (HOU) has flex appeal in standard leagues despite taking a backseat to Marks against a defense that has allowed 12 rushing TDs to running backs in nine games this season.
CHICAGO AT MINNESOTA
Obvious starters: D’Andre Swift (CHI), Rome Odunze (CHI), Justin Jefferson (MIN).
Who to start: Caleb Williams (CHI) is the overall QB7 since Week 6 and has run for 116 yards and a TD in his last two games. Kyle Monangai (CHI) maintains flex appeal as the overall RB10 in standard formats (RB14 in PPR) since Week 7. Colston Loveland (CHI) deserves streaming consideration against a defense that has allowed five TD receptions to tight ends in the last five games. Jordan Addison (MIN) is the overall WR21 in standard formats (WR24 in PPR) since Week 4. Aaron Jones (MIN) had 67 total yards and a TD on 11 touches against the Bears in Week 1 — Jones is currently nursing a shoulder and toe injury, but he was able to play well against the Ravens last week. J.J. McCarthy (MIN) deserves streaming consideration against a defense allowing the third-most fantasy points to quarterbacks, including 20 TD passes in nine games this season. T.J. Hockenson (MIN) deserves streaming consideration against a defense that has allowed at least seven receptions, 83 yards or a TD to tight ends in five straight games.
Who to sit: DJ Moore (CHI) faces a defense allowing the seventh-fewest fantasy points to wide receivers. Sleeper: The Bears D/ST faces an offense allowing the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing defenses.
GREEN BAY AT N.Y. GIANTS
Obvious starters: Josh Jacobs (GB),
Who to start: Jordan Love (GB) deserves streaming consideration against a defense allowing the sixth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks, including nine TD passes in the last four games. Romeo Doubs (GB) maintains WR3/flex upside as the overall WR31 in standard formats (WR32 in PPR) through 10 weeks. The Packers D/ST deserves streaming consideration against a historically turnover-prone QB. Wan’Dale Robinson (NYG) is the overall WR29 in standard formats (WR18 in PPR) through 10 weeks with at least six receptions in four of the last five games.
Who to sit: Matthew Golden (GB) has five receptions for 13 yards in the last two games. Luke Musgrave (GB) is TD-dependent until further notice after only receiving three targets in his first game with Tucker Kraft on the IR. The Steelers D/ST deserves streaming consideration at home against a stationary QB like Flacco.
Who to sit: Calvin Austin III (PIT) has topped 34 receiving yards once in his last six games. Kaleb Johnson (PIT) hasn’t topped six touches in a game this season.
Sleeper(s): Noah Fant (CIN) has a TD in two of the last three games, and faces a defense allowing the fourth-most fantasy points to tight ends. Kenneth Gainwell (PIT) has flex appeal against a defense allowing the most fantasy points to running backs, including 411 rushing yards and three TDs in the last two games.
L.A. CHARGERS AT JACKSONVILLE
Obvious starters: Justin Herbert (LAC), Ladd McConkey (LAC), Travis Etienne Jr. (JAC).
Who to start: Both Keenan Allen (LAC) and Quentin Johnston (LAC) maintain WR3/flex upside against a defense that has allowed seven TDs to wide receivers in the last four games. Kimani Vidal (LAC) is the overall RB9 across most fantasy formats since Week 6 with at least 21 touches in three of the last five games.
