Penguins' Sidney Crosby secures record 20th point-per-game season with goal in Buffalo

Sidney Crosby finally got his historic point Thursday evening in Buffalo, pinging a wrister past James Reimer to secure his 20th career point-per-game season, passing Wayne Gretzky for most all time.
With the Penguins down 2-0, the captain received a pass from behind the net from Rickard Rakell. Crosby deftly handled the puck with his skate before firing a wrist shot over the Buffalo netminder’s shoulder to pull the team back within a goal.
Crosby is in the midst of another spectacular year for the struggling Penguins. The goal was 37-year-old’s 26th tally of the season to go along with a team-best 54 assists. Thursday’s goal marked Crosby’s 80th point of the season, securing a point-per-game mark after he missed two games earlier in the year due to an upper-body injury.
Crosby entered Thursday night’s contest leading the league in five-on-five points with 52, one more than Edmonton’s Leon Draisaitl, who leads the league in goals with 49.
