Knights collapse after strong start, fall at home to Lightning

LAS VEGAS — The Golden Knights had a two-goal lead in the first period, but fell apart in the final 40 minutes in a 6-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning at T-Mobile Arena on Thursday.
Left wing Ivan Barbashev scored twice in the opening frame, but the Lightning scored twice in the opening 3:28 of the second period. They scored six of the game’s seven goals after the first period.
Right wing Mitch Marner had a goal and two assists for the Knights (7-3-3), who fell to 1-2-0 during their six-game homestand.
Goaltender Carl Lindbom made 21 saves and fell to 0-2-1 in his first three NHL starts.
Lightning right wing Nikita Kucherov scored twice and had an assist in the third period.
