Golden Knights fall to Islanders in OT, suffer 4th straight loss

LAS VEGAS — The New York Islanders’ J.G. Pageau scored a short-handed goal with 1:59 remaining in overtime, and the Vegas Golden Knights lost their fourth straight game 4-3 at T-Mobile Arena on Thursday night.
The Islanders were called for too many men on the ice. Pageau won the ensuing faceoff and let a shot go from the high slot that beat goaltender Akira Schmid.
The Knights (7-4-5) finished 1-3-2 during their seasonlong six-game homestand.
Defenseman Shea Theodore scored his first goal of the season, and center Tomas Hertl and right wing Reilly Smith scored twice in 2:22 in the third period to give the Knights a 3-2 lead.
Islanders center Mat Barzal tied it with a six-on-five goal with 2:37 remaining to force overtime.
Schmid finished with 20 saves.
