Auto review: 2025 Mini Countryman offers fun for everyone

While Mini’s parent company, BMW, has had no problems rolling out new and updated models recently, Mini has had to overcome some hurdles, with sales flattening. But in Grasso’s Garage this week, Mini is back.

Powering the 2025 Mini Countryman ALL4 is the popular 2.0-liter Mini TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder engine with 312 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, which gets paired with a seven-speed Steptronic dual clutch sport automatic transmission with paddle shifters and remote engine start, making the Countryman JCW peppy and fun.

Wrapped in Legend Grey and red accents, the Countryman’s upgraded exterior aesthetics improve greatly over prior generations. With nine themes and “Go-Kart” mode being the most powerful and responsive and most fun, we don’t want to discount the other drive modes like Trail, Timeless, Vivid, Mid, Sport, Green, Personal and Balance. The center console all-in-one circular OLED touchscreen allows you to adjust the themes and enjoy the vibe while controlling the entire infotainment at the same time. Our four-wheel drive Countryman was comfortable and more spacious than previous tested models, with a mid $40K price tag.

Our five-seater tester included the Iconic trim, Comfort Package Max, 20-inch wheels, performance brakes, all at an additional $4,400. Included in all Mini purchases, the maintenance program includes engine oil service, spark plugs, brake fluid, vehicle checks and air filters for the first three years or 36,000 mile scheduled maintenance. Warranty for the Mini includes a 12-year/unlimited mileage rust perforation warranty, four-year/50,000 mile limited warranty, and a four-year/unlimited mileage roadside assistance program.

As a past Clubman JCW owner, I found this Mini a great deal of fun. It brings a whole host of cool features to the driver, while having that go-kart feel for the driver. If BMW is the Ultimate Driving Machine, Mini is the Ultimate Fun Machine.
