Miss Universe Jamaica hospitalized after shocking fall off stage

A Miss Universe contestant who stunningly fell off stage Wednesday during a preliminary round of the pageant was doing OK and recovering in the hospital, the organization’s leader said.
Miss Jamaica, Gabrielle Henry, was walking across the stage when she stepped directly off the elevated surface during Wednesday’s portion of the competition in Bangkok.
Social media videos showed several people rushing to Henry’s aid as soon as she walked off stage, and other clips showed her leaving on a stretcher.
“I was there (at the hospital) with her family and her, and thankfully, there are no broken bones and she is under good care,” Miss Universe CEO Raul Rocha wrote on Instagram. “She will remain under observation for the rest of the night and we will remain in touch with her family to support her.”
The Miss Universe Jamaica organization also confirmed Henry did not suffer any life-threatening injuries and asked “everyone to stay upbeat, lift her in prayer and send positive thoughts.”
Miss Universe has already been beset by two scandals ahead of Friday morning’s final ceremony in Thailand. One of the organization’s leaders had to apologize in early November after calling Miss Mexico a “dummy.”
Additionally, three judges resigned earlier this week amid allegations the final 30 contestants had been pre-selected by a corrupt outside group. Miss Universe officials denied any such pre-determination.
