Trump promises to release results of his 'perfect' MRI scan
Published in News & Features
President Donald Trump has promised to release the results of his recent MRI, claiming the scan was “perfect” even as he says he’s not sure what part of his body was under examination.
Trump said he knew the MRI did not involve his brain because he said he “aced” a recent cognitive test.
“If you want to have it released, I’ll release it,” Trump said late Sunday during an exchange with reporters as he flew back to Washington from a weekend in Florida.
Trump, 79, repeated his claim that he has “no idea” why doctors ordered the MRI, or magnetic resonance imaging, scan or even what part of the body it was aimed at.
“It was just an MRI,” he said. “What part of the body? It wasn’t the brain because I took a cognitive test and I aced it.”
Neither Trump nor the White House has ever fully explained why Trump went to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in October or why he needed the MRI.
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt claimed the visit amounted to a second “annual” physical for 2025. She said Trump underwent “advanced imaging” and that the results showed Trump remains in “exceptional physical health.”
The White House admitted last summer that Trump suffers from a relatively common condition called chronic venous insufficiency, or CVI, which it says causes the swollen ankles that have been noticed by reporters. The condition is not dangerous in itself but can be a sign of more serious heart problems, especially in a person of advanced age. Trump will turn 80 years old next June.
Trump’s communications team also claimed that bruising on Trump’s right hand, which aides often cover up with makeup when he appears in public, is likely caused by too much hand shaking and aspirin use.
Trump is the second oldest person to serve as president after former President Joe Biden and will become the oldest ever if he serves to the end of his term in 2029.
