Tory Lanez moved to new prison after stabbing to ensure safety
Published in Entertainment News
Rapper Tory Lanez is reportedly on the road to recovery in a new prison facility after he was allegedly stabbed 14 times on the morning of May 12.
The 32-year-old “Sorry 4 What” artist has been transferred to California Men’s Colony near San Luis Obispo, roughly three hours away from the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi. He’s been serving a 10-year sentence for a shooting incident involving fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion.
A rep for Lanez confirmed he was moved to “ensure his safety” after the brutal prison yard attack, which resulted in both of his lungs collapsing.
Attorney Crystal Morgan told TMZ her client “is doing fine, considering the severity of his injuries.”
However, he’s supposedly unhappy with the prison swap, since he’d “been building a personal community” at California Correctional Institution.
Days before the alleged stabbing, the Canadian artist — real name Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson — posted a chummy photo posted up with fellow inmates on his verified Instagram account.
Lanez has maintained his innocence despite a jury believing Megan Thee Stallion’s retelling of the events that followed a party at Kylie Jenner’s Hollywood Hills home in December 2022.
He was accused of having fired five shots while yelling “Dance, b—!” to the three-time Grammy winner, who sustained gunshot wounds to her feet. He was sentenced in August 2023.
In another turn of events, Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna — known for peddling MAGA-fueled conspiracy theories — entered the “Free Tory Lanez” chat on Tuesday by publicly calling on California Gov. Gavin Newsom to pardon the Toronto-bred lyricist.
“His 10-year sentence was based on flawed evidence, political pressure, and prosecutorial bias. Justice must be blind — not driven by headlines,” the freshman Florida lawmaker tweeted along with an online petition.
She later wrote that she spoke with Lanez from prison, offering an update to fans: “Despite being stabbed multiple times, his spirit remains unbroken—and he’s deeply grateful for the opportunity to prove his innocence.”
