CHICAGO — The Chicago Sky momentarily paused Friday’s game against the Golden State Valkyries at Wintrust Arena after a fan threw a green sex toy onto the court.

The interruption occurred with 7 minutes, 42 seconds remaining in the third quarter. The Sky were attempting to advance the ball in transition when play was whistled dead. The object appeared to be thrown from the upper deck behind the north baseline.

It’s the second time this week a WNBA game featuring the Valkyries has been paused after a fan threw a sex toy onto the court. During a game Tuesday in Atlanta, play was stopped with barely a minute left in the fourth quarter. Both incidents involved the same shape and color of object.

“It’s super disrespectful,” Sky center Elizabeth Williams said after the Valkyries’ 73-66 victory. “I don’t really get the point of it. It’s really immature. Whoever is doing it needs to grow up.”

Wintrust Arena has a clear bag policy. The only non-clear bags allowed in the building must be smaller than 10-by-6-by-2 inches, although exceptions are made for diaper bags and medical equipment. It wasn’t immediately apparent how the fan smuggled the object into the stands.

The Sky did not have an immediate comment on the incident while security attempted to identify the culprit.
