LAS VEGAS — A Las Vegas gambler has locked in a profit of either $4.9 million or $3.4 million in Super Bowl 60 regardless of which team wins.

The bettor placed a total of $1.8 million in wagers to win $3.5 million at Circa Sports and BetMGM sportsbooks on the New England Patriots money line to hedge Seattle Seahawks futures bets at the books that will pay $6.75 million if they win Sunday’s game.

The gambler placed at least seven $50,000 futures bets on the Seahawks in the preseason to win a total of almost $10.5 million.

“That’s the guy that came in in August and bet $50,000 each to make the playoffs at +180, to win the (NFC) West at 6-1, to win the NFC at 37-1 and then to win the Super Bowl at 75-1,” said Mike Palm, vice president of operations for Circa, The D and Golden Gate. “So he’s hit the first three, and now he would win $3.75 million in the Super Bowl. So he made a nice hedge.

“He’s locked it up.”

The bettor wagered $1.1 million at Circa on the New England money line (+188) to win almost $2.1 million, guaranteeing a profit of either $2.65 million if Seattle wins or $2 million if the Patriots prevail.

The unidentified gambler is in a similar situation at BetMGM, where he has already won almost $1.5 million on the Seahawks ($1.4 million when they won the NFC, $92,500 when they made the playoffs) and will win an additional $3 million (at 60-1 odds) if they win the Super Bowl.

He placed a $725,000 hedge bet at MGM on the New England money line (+195) to win $1.41 million, locking in a profit of either $2,275,000 if the Seahawks win or $1.36 million if they lose.

“We had the guy that bet early in the year on the Seahawks. He absolutely came back with a hedge bet, so he’s a winner either way,” MGM Resorts director of trading Lamarr Mitchell said. “He’s in a good spot. He’s going to win either the Patriots money line or Seahawks future book.”

Seattle remains a consensus 4 1/2-point favorite, and the consensus total is 45 1/2. The Seahawks are -5 at the Westgate SuperBook and South Point, and the total is 45 at Circa.

Palm said the big bettor lost a $500,000 hedge bet on the Los Angeles Rams +2 1/2 in their 31-27 loss to the Seahawks in the NFC title game.

“But here he’s not taking the points,” he said. “Now we actually need the Seahawks. The could change. Eighty percent plus of the write is going to come in the last 24 hours before the kickoff.

“His hedge bet is what’s flipped it for us. Otherwise we were pulling for New England. Right now, we’re pulling for Seattle.”

Mitchell said MGM is a loser on the game on the Patriots and a loser on the future book on the Seahawks.

“Right now, the Seahawks are a win for us on the game on the money line and point spread, and the total over is a winner for us,” he said.

Including all reported futures and hedge bets, the gambler will win a total of either $8.1 million on the Seahawks if they win the Super Bowl or $6.6 million if the Patriots prevail.
