LAS VEGAS — Jack Eichel scored with 2:16 remaining in overtime, and the Vegas Golden Knights rallied from two goals down in the third period to defeat the Toronto Maple Leafs 6-5 at T-Mobile Arena on Thursday night.

Eichel, who also had three assists, walked in alone and finished with the backhand.

Center Tomas Hertl scored the game-tying goal with seven seconds remaining in regulation to force the extra frame.

Mitch Marner had two assists in his first meeting against his former team. Marner spent the first nine years of his career with Toronto when he was taken fourth overall in the 2015 NHL draft.

The Knights acquired him in a sign-and-trade with the Maple Leafs on July 1, then signed him to an eight-year, $96 million contract.

Knights captain Mark Stone scored and had two assists to extend his point streak to 10 games, and Pavel Dorofeyev scored two power-play goals for the Knights, who were playing the second night of a back-to-back after winning 3-2 in overtime Wednesday in Los Angeles.

Dorofeyev’s potential hat trick goal with 4:10 remaining that would have tied the game was taken off the board after Toronto challenged for offsides.

Goaltender Adin Hill made 23 saves in his first start since Oct. 20 because of a lower-body injury. Hill allowed three goals in the first period but shook off the rust over the final two-thirds of the game to give his team a chance.
